As far as the Saturday programs at the State-run orphanage go, they are up in full swing and we have been doing more skits in the story time that involve the kids. We have our usual games, craft, and songtime. We’ve been digging deep in our storehouse of game ideas and remembering ones we enjoyed, and we’re blessed to be more organized now with our “song packets”, an idea from a sister in our group of volunteers. It takes a team sometimes to think practically. 🙂 We are also looking for ways to involve the older kids of 14 and 15 who used to be involved, but now are grown up. Sometimes they come for the story and Lucian has an extra talk for them while there is a craft for the younger kids.
As a type of excursion and a way to break the monotony of the month, we started bringing kids to the church once a month who are involved in our programs to a bigger gathering. They are from 2 orphanages and a village. On January 17th we had 50 kids. We played some new games, sang some Bible songs for kids, and our story was on the Miracles of Jesus: Lazarus rising from the dead. In this particular lesson, we did the story as a skit with the kids involved. They had fun learning the story this way, and in the future we will try to do more types of skits. A lot of time in Romanian learning, it is one-way but we are looking for more interaction as a way for kids to practice what they’re learning with courage. We hope this monthly outing remains a nice reward for the kids who are involved. The next week, we started learning a skit on Peter’s Mother-in-Law, and hope to present it to the main group when we go to the bigger gathering at the church in Feb.

Pray for: the kids to remember their lines, and act with enthusiasm!, clear guidance to be set and maintained in our visits, the Lord to be a light and the childrens’ questions to be answered well. The Lord bless you and keep you..
