We hope to have some smashing games at the youth camp again this year, like we did last year. Our friend, Edy Sava, is leading the outside games again and he comes with his camping experience of 10+ years and his good ideas !

Summer camp

Youth Summer Camp “God Cares” July 25-30, 2016

Prayers needed ! Its that time of year again, to think about and start planning for summer camp ! Our camp this year will be July 25-30 in the mountains at the beautiful landscapes of Voroneti, in Suceava county. We have gathered so far 14 sponsorships for underprivileged teens & orphans, and would like to find a total of 60. If you would like to get involved, please send your gift of $120 per camper to My Brother’s Keeper, PO Box 11, Roxbury, PA, 17251 USA , with memo “Avadanei camp 2016” by June 1st, or you can think about coming with your group to help out!

Awana Saturdays, crafts, village visits

March Awana & Village Program

In March, we kept up with our routine – and me being 6 1/2 months pregnant, I was still able to participate 🙂

We went two Saturdays to the Elena Doamna Orphanage and two Saturdays to the Ion Creanga Orphanage, and every Wednesday held our Village kids club in Garcina where approx. 10-15 kids who live there came and participated. At all these meetings, we sing, have a relevant story, play group games, and have a neat craft. We are learning the Easter story at the orphanages, and Moses & the Exodus with Garcina.

Statistics

In Romania in the year 2000, there were: 87,753 orphans/abandoned children.

In the year 2010, there were: 62,000 orphans/abandoned children.

While numbers are going down, there is still a large group, with a high concentration in institutional orphanages in the Eastern part of the country. To effectively serve this marginalized group, there is a need for compassionate individuals to be willing to do life with them: support during the school year, providing extracurricular activities, and offering possibilities for them to grow.

Country's Induction in the EU: 1 Jan, 2007.
Conditions of orphanages have greatly improved with the country’s induction in the European Union, and grants have been given to certain orphanages and infrastructure to make renovations.
