We had an amazing week together with our church Biserica Crestina Baptista Piatra Neamt, and with 65 young people learning about “Which Way? Discovering God’s Will” for your life, using the scripture Psalm 119: 105 “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path” and other scriptures in the beautiful mountains of Voronet, in Suceava County, Romania, August 27- Sept. 1, 2018! ☀️🏞🌲🤸🏻♀️
The young people were from our city, Piatra Neamt and villages in the county. The villages/ towns represented were Bodesti, Negresti, Dobreni, Bicaz, Damuc, Racoasa, Suceava, Vaslui, Iasi, and Roman. In all of these areas there is evangelism work being done by members of our church, or they have heard of our camp through the churches. Orphanages represented were Casa Ray Orphanage in Dobreni with 6 teens, and Sancta Maria Orphanage in Piatra Neamt with 6 teens. We have had interactions with both orphanages before.
Each teen received a workbook and throughout the week meditated on topics of : the importance of the Bible’s presence in our lives (2 Tim. 3: 15-17), salvation as God’s will for everyone (Eph. 2: 1-5), using Christ as our role model to maturity (RO 8:29 & 1 John 2:6), and finally inspiration that comes from God for taking decisions for your life (Philipians 4:6 prayer, Hebrews 2:4 spiritual gifts).
Some highlights of the week are: the skit illustrations that leaders put on, in one evening the first night, the 6 days of Creation were presented as an introduction to the week, and then pictures were hung on a rope. Satan came and knocked them all down violently and then a boy representing Christ came and put the pictures on the wall (with sticky backing) in the form of the cross. It was a powerful image and good way to get the teens thinking about God’s will for all lives.
Another highlight was the Treasure Hunt organized by one of our leaders Gary Stoll. He went around the whole campground and the surrounding forest, putting up clues for teens to find. Working in their family groups, they visited every one of the stations of the books of the Bible and had various tasks to complete, also finding “Luci money” along the way. 🙂 It incorporated a great amount of team work, strategy, physical effort, and was a good old fashioned challenge for everybody! It was planned for one day, was rained out, but glad we were able to play it on Thursday. 🙂
Another highlight was the two teens from Suceava who came for first time with us, are not from a church going family but genuinely liked the way the gospel was presented. We hope to have more interaction with them in future, Irina & Mihai. One of our brothers from church has family in that area and that is how these two heard of it.
