We have some new additions this fall to our ministry. 🍂 We’ve added a pre-adolescent group at our church, Biserica Baptista Sfanta Treime, a children’s program at the State Orphanage Ion Creanga, and we’ve added a little boy to our family. 👶
The pre-adolescent group is grade 6,7,8 that meets weekly on Saturdays at our church for two hours before youth group. They’re having a study much like the youth group, only for their age. And we are finding more of this age are coming than we thought, that otherwise don’t come to the church. The meetings are with Gary Stoll, Luci, and Teo Tifrea and have been meeting for a month now. It’s going well.
We’re very glad to start with the Ion Creanga orphanage again, we had problems with conflicting schedules last year and had to stop meeting with them for awhile, but started again two weeks ago. It’s going good. We do an Awana type program- two hours games, singing, lesson, craft and now are preparing songs for a Christmas program! There are 12-15 kids who come. We know these kids for four years and are glad we get to work with them again, also they came to our VBS over the summer and loved it! Pray for kids, workers, us to have a good attitude and fun time together because that helps them to learn.
We also want to announce about our baby boy Ruben! Ruben Roy Avadanei was born on September 18, 2018 here in Piatra Neamt at 3480g, 50cm long. Big sister is happy to have a playmate (doll?:)) and learning what to do to help. Mommy & daddy are thrilled and getting used to the routine. Also Emily goes more with Daddy to programs now. She is almost 2 1/2.
Thank you for praying for our family and as always if there are things we can be praying for let us know. Also if you have praises, share them so we can praise God with you. Blessings!
which will take you to a MBK Paypal donation page for the Avadanei family. This is how they’re handling online donations until the website is up and running. You can then specify exactly what its for ie: camp or project, in the text box. Thank you and have a wonderful summer!
We want to thank each of you for praying for us and the things we do here in Romania. We are each weak, but it means a lot to have you praying for the work that goes on through our church, Sfânta Treime Baptist Piatra Neamț to affect the lives of many children and youth in our county. We feel as though many of you are right there with us!
As we have served in this area, we’ve kept in mind the verses from Dan. 1:8-16 where Daniel and his friends want to feed on different food. We hope that some of the children and youth from villages, orphanages, and our city will decide this as well for their lives, not to be defiled with the culture around them but to seek something more holy. We hope the same for you, thank you and blessings for the New Year!
Welcome to 2017! We have been enveloped in the spring buds and new flowers, as well as the traditional Romanian mărțisor, as the spring takes it’s place. It is beautiful here in the spring, particularly because the winter is so long & cold. A lot has changed for us in the past year. We have welcomed a little daughter in our midst, (she’s 9mo now) and with that have changed some activities. Mostly regarding the English lessons, we are doing most of them from our home, and not so many activities at the Elena Doamna orphanage.
A typical week’s schedule looks like: (Emily goes with mommy all except the kids club- it’s too cold right now)
Monday- 2pm Becca tutoring, 1pm-8pm Lucian at school.
Tuesday- 10am Becca tutoring home, 1pm-8pm Lucian at school, 3pm-6pm Becca tutoring at Casa Ray Orphanage
Wednesday- 10-12 Becca tutoring home, 1pm-8pm Lucian at school, 2-5pm Becca tutoring home, 6-8pm prayer meeting.
Thursday- 1pm-8pm Lucian at school, 3pm-6pm Becca tutoring at Casa Ray Orphanage.
Friday- 1pm-8pm Lucian at school, 2pm Becca tutoring home.
Saturday- 12-2pm Becca English lessons w/ Elena Doamna Orphanage, 3-5pm Kids village program in Garcina, 6-8pm Lucian at youth group (along with 2other guys they lead).
Sunday- 10-12 church, 6-8pm church.
Also every morning, Lucian has been meeting with youth from 7-8am for breakfast & prayer before school. They have read through the book of John & have started Proverbs. They have also started to pray on their own. It has been going well.
Scripture has taken more of a place in our home as we follow our church’s reading schedule. Also been reading bits from Elizabeth Elliot’s Keep a Quiet Heart and Edith Schaeffer’s Common Sense Christian Living. We have many youth in our home for tutoring, so these practices have been helpful to us.
🙂 We hope the Lord is with you as well this spring, teaching you and guiding you!!!! God bless!!! 🙂
Please pray for us at this time. Luci is starting courses in mid-March to be a cook here in town which will open up many opportunities for work, but we’re not sure how much time this means he’ll be able to devote to the ministry. We feel the Lord’s hand is in this, because it will give him something to do during the week and then be qualified to work. Many of the ministry aspects he is involved in are on the weekends as I head English lessons during the week. dPray for discerning God’s will! Thanks!!
20 Dec, Saturday 2-5pm Christmas Program with carols and gifts. We’ve been blessed with giftboxes from a church in Ireland to give to the orphan children in the two State Orphanages. Our small group of volunteers was challenged with low funds for gifts this year until we received the news of the boxes, praise the Lord! Now we will have enough for juice and a sweet for each child during the party, as well as the boxes. We will share these when we go with other volunteers from our Church for carols and a skit about Christmas.
25 Dec Orphan children in the homes for Christmas, along with church at 10am.
31 Dec teenager New Years Eve gathering. We are bringing some young people from the State Orphanage in town to a New Year’s Eve gathering with our church’s young people. We’ll have games, a special meal, and time for socialization.
Luci and I are doing well at getting settled and finding our place. We are back in Romania after getting married in Sept in US(in Aug was the Romanian wedding) and spending some time in the States. We’ve been catching up with the families at church here and explaining our plans. In addition to a prayer group that meets every Wednesday that we are involved in, we have found a group of young adults that meets every Saturday night for a time of sharing and spiritual challenge. We will have guests in our home the week of Christmas, Johnny & Rebecca Weixler friends from America, and they will help with our activities the week they are here. Pray for safe travels for them!
Thank you to churches Zion United Methodist Church of Peach Bottom, PA and Eldred Church of God, Eldred PA for their special collections and crafts and activity pages, we will be using them to fulfill our commitments for Christmas activities with the children. So far, the kids at the orphanages in town have been practicing for a program with songs and poems for Christmas, and they’re excited to be involved. We will be bringing a group of orphan children from the State Orphanages to our church to share the program we have practiced, and afterwards they will go home with certain families in church for a Christmas meal.
Please keep us and the activities with the children in your prayers. Thank you as you remember them.
May the peace of the fulfilled prophecy fill your hearts as we remember Jesus’ coming to earth. Let’s give thanks together for the gift of God’s Son who has experienced this earth and offers us mercy and hope. May the Lord warm your hearts.
