Vierme cu Jeleu craft

One day, we decided to make jelly worms (vierme cu jeleu). I thought it would be a fun activity since we have a lot of boys. The kids excitedly flexed out their straws, opened their gelatin packets, and stirred the ingredients together. I then watched as little fingers caught the drippings as I poured the mix into the straws. Into the fridge and we wait for the challenge…
Starting the process! The worms proved difficult to break from their “cocoons.” I know for next time to use bigger straws. We tried running a scissors along the length, and we tried squishing them out…
The best way to get them out was to run them under hot water, then immediately squish them out. Here is Kim, hard at work.
Cristian was a patient and diligent helper.  Making this snack was an interesting experiement!

Harvesting ceai (tea). There were a lot of branches, and it was a fun cultural thing to do!  This picture was taken last year, but I think it gives a good idea of the culture.
